Engraving

This book features the most opulent examples of British gun engraving to be found anywhere. These handsome guns (some costing over $250,000 each) are from the greatest private collections in Europe and the USA and, hence, are rarely seen by the public. Tate's book traces the traditions of British gun engraving from the end of the eighteenth century to today. It also chronicles the development of Celtic engraving, the influence of the Arts and Crafts movement, and the significance the Indian maharajas had on British gun ornamentation. The certificates were given to people who donated money to finance the construction of the new sanctuary of Tepeyac, consecrated in 1622, which later became the Basilica of Guadalupe.
